Larkspire listens while you sing and shows you, note by note, whether you are in tune, sharp, or flat - and when it genuinely cannot tell, it says so instead of guessing.

It says “NOT SURE” while I am singing

That is the app working, not failing. Larkspire only names a note when it can actually tell which note it is. It refuses to guess, so “not sure” is a real answer - usually it means the signal is too quiet, too breathy, or the room is too live for a confident reading. Sing a little louder or closer to the phone and it will settle. Tap the reading to see a fuller explanation inside the app.

It says the microphone did not open

That is different from “not sure”, and the app says so on purpose. It means the microphone never started - usually because a phone call, Siri, or another app is using it. Try again in a moment. If the app says the microphone is off for Larkspire, that one you can fix in Settings.

The note is an octave off

Very low or very breathy singing is the hardest case for any pitch detector. If it happens often, set your voice range hint in Settings - Voice range hint - it narrows what the app searches for and makes it more accurate for your voice. “Not sure” is always safe if you would rather it searched the full range.

What is free, and what is the purchase

The live monitor, your full take history with no limit, the range test, and five of the six practice drills are free forever. Larkspire Plus is a single one-time purchase of $3.99 that unlocks the Practice Report PDF export and the interval-matching drill. There is no subscription, nothing auto-renews, and there is no trial to forget to cancel.

I bought Plus and it is not showing

Tap Restore Purchase on the paywall, or Settings - Restore purchase. That asks Apple for your receipt again. It works on any device signed in to the same Apple ID.

Where are my takes?

On your device, and only there. They are never uploaded. Settings - Export my data writes a JSON backup you keep yourself; Restore from backup reads one back. Deleting the app deletes the takes with it, so export first if you want to keep them.

Privacy

Nothing you sing leaves your phone, and your voice is never recorded - only the pitch readings are saved. The full policy is here: https://cooperative-catmint-496.notion.site/Larkspire-Privacy-Policy-39ed692d254d80adb542e3ccc5c2a48a
