The short version

Candela stores your data on your device. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. We never see your data.

Camera

Candela uses your camera as a light sensor: frames are analyzed on your device, in the moment, to estimate exposure. Nothing is recorded, nothing is saved, and no image ever leaves your phone. If you decline camera access, a demo scene lets you use the dials without it.

What we collect

Nothing. Everything you enter — rolls, frames, notes, calibration — stays in the app's local database on your device (and in your personal iCloud backup if you use device backups).

Purchases

The one-time unlock is processed by Apple. We receive no payment details. Restore it anytime with your Apple Account.

Export

Your data leaves the app only when you export it yourself (a journal backup file). Where you send that file is entirely up to you.

Data deletion

Settings → Reset all data deletes everything the app stores. Deleting the app does the same.
